He you know he -- you can argue okay you give up what is probably going to be a middle to late second round pick. For a young man who was the fourth overall players went to the draft two years three drafts ago so you're thinking you're getting pretty good value. I -- and you got a guy who's got a 37 game NFL career under his belt out two plus seasons. He is average and six sacks a season which is not what you want from your right -- the number four pick overall in the draft. The end the end three of the five games he played in Tampa this year he had one tackle Warren -- you know self this is a guy who well into his third season doesn't seem to get it. Obviously the Bears are counting on Rod Marinelli being able to develop London and there are some who believe in that. But what I'm looking at is not you look in the next year without your first or second round draft choice. You clearly have to start rebuild in this offensive line you clearly are not good enough to wide receiver or in the secondary. And your start looked awfully mediocre it and running back. And we still haven't got no one of our favorite subjects the wide receivers so. You know I had. I just don't see the planned for this team I don't see how people think that this team. Is either -- contender right now or is going to become a contender."

The end and and you match personnel you match units you look at where the Bears are at. They don't belong with those teams you know than. And they're not ready to play with those teams and and they don't now have the resources to to add parts to to get to where those teams are so. Full disconcerting to me where there right now."

" Rod Marinelli is vaunted rush -- didn't generate. Any anything and I know that that is a solid offensive line is two years in a row now against Matt Ryan you barely even -- he passes no sex but for all the -- for all the sunset and all the excitement over what the defense of wind is done all of sudden we've gone for Mark Anderson being a revelation to Mark Anderson being a disappointment in just a couple of games. When do we seen the front four or succeed on their own with out. Coming free because of a blitzer you know he did that to me we've certainly it's an exact numbers. It's funny you say well you know Ogunleye got the -- brown got the sack of one of the tackles did that was that because. A blocker had to make a decision -- the Bears are sending extra I wanna see the front four. Itself do the job."

" You know. I think it's up playing yeah we have to have knowledge that the only player -- defense of line who is or was an exceptional talent. His Tommie Harris and he's not anymore. You know while it live the one year in Miami he's never been special other than that. Alex Brown I think is a great all around defensive and I think he's a bit underrated -- at this point in his career. The best series ever had a six and a half sacks so easy you know I can get exceptional pass rush from him. This perception that because Rod Marinelli is here suddenly all these guys are better again that's not reality I mean you know you -- have better football players now. He may be able to do so neat things with. Gaines Adams with Marcus Harrison was Jarron Gilbert those are three players who have great physical ability and our great prospects who certainly aren't. Maxed out yet will be very -- to see what he can do with them but he idea that he suddenly gonna make these 567 year veterans better -- just never. Ring true to me and ahead at least five games and there's six games and it's not happening so about life hell would you would you or would you -- give -- the Gaines Adams -- You know until I don't know I. I I'm I'm not gonna second guess mind that when you got a great prospect I I don't know all the things went wrong in Tampa Bay in my in my understanding for the people I talk to. Is that the kid really is unique physical talent that's upstairs with a problem isn't and Rod Marinelli. Does have a reputation as a guy who can take guys who won't be home for whatever reason. Whether it's concentration or attitude or work ethic those are things you can't coach and -- you know. It's worth the risque where I don't wanna -- though for -- one more time on the smack somebody I wanna hear. It's stupid that Jerry did because he's finally acknowledged he can't you know make good draft picks anyway. Because when I hear that then I just -- fault but the ten guys -- running your football team himself. You know if part of this deal is that there -- acknowledging that they don't do well high in the draft anyway. They need to replace those people you know you don't just get rid of the draft picks so I don't think Jerry believes I don't -- that's why don't I was real."

And so. I think it's a combination of working on his head and get them in the weight room and self. I think it's unrealistic to assume you're gonna get much out of him this year you know hopefully get competition and then fresh legs and maybe gets a couple sacks but the real test for him. Is going to be if rusty Jones and Rod Marinelli can double team moment and really. -- not put weight on so much is put muscle on the end and then to to get the attitude fixed in India and teaching some moves -- sitting -- in Tampa. Is that everything with him was a speed rush that that he really doesn't have any moves and so there's a lot of work to be done about I don't know. Have a big problem with the trade because he he did get. Exceptional value my my bigger concern. Is that I think that there are other areas of of equal or greater need now you don't have a high draft choices to address those areas."

Good at blocking if that's the case how do you game plan -- or the you can say he can't block -- screen him and may be every once awhile you catch a minute in the right. Formation and you hit him with a screen that works but really if you're just not that good run blocking you don't really trust seven step drop pass protection."

Well we're all 300 pounders who can bench press a whole bunch so let's not even pretend we're gonna pass protect let's discuss trade does grind it out. And that's usually the formula to get an offensive line and -- get them going. The Bears wanna do a lot of that Sunday night they weren't able to you know I think what really was concerning to me is that all of -- is one of my favorite Chicago Bears of all time and and I thought was playing really well the the first four weeks of the season. He would have a great game Sunday night Frankel meals terrible yeah I -- off sure yeah. -- he he's he's a wonderful prospect he's got the size that you want not the triangle numbers. Get him out put Josh beaten back in because while Josh speak -- doesn't look like he can't be good enough he was better last year than Frankel meal has been so far this year. But I guess the real kind of scary part of at all is that. It is true that the offensive line of all the units on the field requires the most timing the most teamwork they need to get comfortable any chemistry. But they were here prior to the draft they did the free agent signings early so they had a full no offseason of OTAs they had a full training camp. They've played four games TO they got the bye weekend now they've played a fifth game. It don't figure to get much better coming back I think to suggest it's timing and familiarity at this point. That's a bit of a cop out and and self. Other than even committing more to running the football and being willing to eat some three and outs and then they ask your defense to. To cover -- until you get some momentum on the ground I'm not sure what more they can do."

" I'm not really sure -- like for example and I mentioned the Chargers offensive line is any better either -- are running the same plays the Bears runs or more a ladies and I plays -- the same thing that made you watch with the Broncos do on that line. It's unbelievable Kyle Orton could sit back there in order pizza. They've got it did you with with the Falcons are doing I -- and soul. Envious of that as a very good butler and so envious of the ability you know that the Cutler is. Is is it looks like everything is is a slight lead. Her read your reaction just a little. " Understand though that the Denver Broncos have two of the best young tackles in the NFL me. It does usually come back to talent at some point. The Falcons they're nuts specials -- affects Sam baker. Get yanked out of the game at one point the second half Sunday -- their first round pick from the Chris Williams draft self. You know I think with something they just got better talent. In the case of the Bears -- and their old I mean Orlando Pace is in his mid thirties he owns in his mid thirties and they Cabrera Garza who was horrible -- then I think he's 3132. -- O'Neill Williams aren't old obviously but. You certainly aren't gonna get any better at a Kevin Shaffer at tackle so. But the one movie you can make as you go back to Josh speak minute guard you can give him a shot because they were better with him and -- your. But I feel everything in all fairness in and I worried about this all during the off season. Matt Forte isn't special either -- And you know he's a nice running back. But that's really all you loose in. And end and you've got nothing behind him -- Kevin Jones injury in the pre season really hurt. So I don't think there's any you know ready answers about the pop out with their running game."

" No -- at least to what we started the conversation -- about the fact that there's so much work to do -- his team -- those. You know some teams usually draft so very well as you point don't they do get guys that are gonna bid to become ten -- staples on the offensive line. In it and jury is always been pretty good job of fighting to free agent offensive lineman who can help them. -- built a pretty decent mind doing that but there's oil each did you still think he can get better. Well I don't know on the other double there there there's a reason he never got in the lineup in Atlanta and Carolina in on the did play some last year and in the -- need to do an injury. But he's just been colossal disappointment that I expected to be a much better but there're couple plays -- and it was more pass protection run blocking. He just fell back home. He just tried to fall within that the rusher is Webb -- missed them you know and and who's kind of sad to watch. I had this it is not an NFL play. So I don't -- blame Jay Cutler he feels like somebody's always gonna dig his head off I mean I could see why every game would you I think I agree I think he's just a beat too fast it's too. If everything is just like did just that much off and there's only. One source to blame not on the first drive the first drive W -- was -- that that rhythm that he threw that stupid picked right let me let you had a really asked not that's the way the run turner offense is supposed to look on the first drive bing -- is hurting he's got a real good rhythm."

He's not a wide receiver and this is not just me saying this at this point -- broadcast partisans Westwood broadcaster James Lofton. He learned a little bit about the position Venezuela all fan and we were -- a -- this Sunday and any. Description he said he -- Devin Hester. He can almost hear him counting the steps as he gets into his break probably -- almost equally out loud you actually hearing yeah he said he believes that he can just feel him. Feeling his way around the football field he has not instinctive football player he is not a natural receiver and that's three years into this plan. Junior I think the bottom and I thought I saw that on the field but I -- Lofton to verify informant. You know big play in the big drive that that got him past midfield on the last drive so quickly what was about a twenty form -- the 32 yard reception that he had. We settled down in the zone he turned around he got about fifteen yards and Romo after -- right. The first move was brilliant the second move if he doesn't make it he splits the scene he's in the end zone. There was no reason for that second move that just took on the sidelines will take him out of sight if he just went at that point if he had do you -- sport. They didn't score would have been tied with a minute fifty left and who knows what happens I'll just -- go to single wide -- had. Have that instinct when he's returning a kick he doesn't have that is think what is the ball in the open field and I don't know what -- was doing instincts are I I carry I can't tell it's just feel I think because in the open -- jailbreak he's not even thinking he's just going. Whereas in this case now he's identified the one or two guys he has to beat -- many over -- and these are guys. Who are almost as quick as him and and so if you if you don't make the right choice you're going to be in trouble. Haven't Hester is it is only wonderful weapon to have on your football team but if you're counting on him to be your number one receiver you're in big trouble."

You expect it there's just nothing there there's nothing they say to myself all year now. If it should say enough I don't know how much of it is them how much of his Matt Forte all it was a rescue one guy to do way too much."

" But again Matt Forte is not special he's not a guy who just needs a crease he needs all you know he ends up they gotta open them on a regular basis but I. I've got this sneaking suspicion that they're gonna find a way to win in Cincinnati on Sunday. And then you get a cupcake coming in here in Cleveland and so if that happens suddenly. You know your -- candidate five in two. So and they're they're still wild -- no question about that. But but I just I I was hoping at this point that that that he still has some magic enemy you know and that forte was more like though the running back we saw last year. The end and I think you guys know I've never been that excited about. About Hester but you see now when does Clark is healthy it makes Greg Olsen that are any and I do think Johnny Nash is going to be pretty good only he's going to be great. And cover cover special -- so we're seeing it and even with a two to two picks Sunday night. He's the only reason they were in -- football campaign and and defensively I was impressed I didn't think that they. Get enough pressure on Matt Ryan and then they're not you're creating enough pass rush. But I thought as a unit that did that they've played pretty well if you told me that they were gonna hold the Falcons a 21 points on the that I would have expected they're gonna win that game."

" Well the loss of Antwan Odom is huge it is not as big as some would think he was. Leading -- the league in sacks going into Sunday with eight that he did get final in the one game against the Green Bay Packers selfless and Alan Gerber yeah it was said and so you got to kind of put an gastric by either the league leading -- but he. He was their best pass rusher and it is a big loss for them -- Think whether tackles went down as well so. To -- probably played -- was a good idea -- were. I yeah I can't I think you're right guys they only to see a guy -- will be questionable and it wasn't. If not -- guys -- replaced by to meet the story this game guys. Is Cedric Benson the -- electron to Cedric Benson for what he's given them so far and you know what he's gonna wanna do on Sunday. Now if that offensive line in his teammates wanted to do it for him and with him. Then the Bears could be in trouble but but I don't think Cedric Benson is special either and so it's not like that's something that the Bears can't handle. And Carson Palmer has struggled a little bit he said the same problems Cutler he's -- good -- in the end streaks but he's thrown too many picks and and you saw the vandals were very pedestrian on Sunday so. It's a winnable game. You know he if Roddy White didn't beat you by himself there's no reason to believe that Chad Ochocinco will not again. I am a little surprise to Chris Henry isn't doing more than he is the Caldwell kit is has become their number two receiver. If they get all three of those guys against the Bears secondary and they decided to -- and trying to commit to the run. Then you can see some big plays in the Bears could get in trouble. But but the Bengals no defense is is really just devers are pretty good on the corners with Jonathan Joseph and Leon hall and with the Bears challenges -- wide receiver.
