" Hello -- I was late to the party in determining kids. Steve Phillips is dead paramour. -- that he apparently was desire was harassing her family and harassing the kids. While being chased by Japanese whaling ships -- Call Harold Reynolds shall get a -- it's not until. Shall we starts that's okay hub is ready the phones are full suddenly drops off you can only gets up and jump on. We begin in Madison with -- none WSCR."
" Thanks for taking my call guys I'll just wanted to say that -- you know that your your. Romo didn't wave -- talk about talent and football I think you're one of -- to -- you make some comments yesterday about -- that we're somewhat hurtful but. He also -- come in three weeks ago that you help the Broncos. Will be lucky to win 199. Games today and they're looking pretty darn good to -- I'd like to hear your comments that."
" Yeah I don't think it was nine games on the road there was probably three and since they won all three it was an equally stupid comment. You know they're they're very good on defense. There outstanding at wide receiver. They've got a great rookie running back they've got two of the best young tackles in the league. The end so you know based on talent. They're good football team in this fictional football team no you know balls don't bounce the way they did against Cincinnati and Tom Brady doesn't -- receivers in the feet you know so they've had a few breaks but. They're obviously a lot better than I thought they were Josh McDaniels is obviously. He's very good young football coach which I don't -- he was good college you study was too young into an experienced. But he certainly is prove me wrong in so. My hat's off to -- you know and then the one place where I would be careful his we're now gonna do the Kyle Orton. You know Jay Cutler comparisons. Until the -- something changes in one of their performances. I will tell you with without hesitation I will still take Jay Cutler over Kyle Orton based on where they're at today in their respective careers. Northwest side Jim welcome the score Santa hub."
" I do another -- what's your opinion that this whole. Extra ram -- bucks a pipeline that Lovie interior using nowadays they're looking to be working out so well for the Bears and is it common throughout the league. For GMs and coaches to go back to their old teams and try to find these kind of reclamation projects."
" Play it is common for GMs to get players that they loved when they were scouting and they've attempted to acquire in the past is common. For coaches to get players that they've coached I don't think it's. Obviously there is a Tampa Bay connection here their run through everything but hey let's not mean it is what it is that's where Jerry Angelo and Lovie Smith and Rod Marinelli first came together. I will tell you that to -- the Gaines Adams acquisition is very different from all the others I thought Orlando Pace was a great signing. I knew -- Archuleta was a disaster yeah I don't say that they don't have. He says -- we Samoa is still play a good sign he can't predict the injury. -- and Casey Gaines Adams this is not about him being a box so much. There's about this was a kid coming out of Clemson just two years ago three drafts ago who all three of them loved as a potentially great pass rusher now. What concerns me is that he's got 37 games under his belt and and analysts -- bust the disappointment of -- the word I would use and I don't have. Enough faith in him and Lovie and what I've seen so far Rod Marinelli to say that just because he plays for them now it's going to be different. But I do think that this is a different acquisition than than all the others that have even been a little frustrated Whitewater Wisconsin and Mike and WSCR score."
" Okay I'm outta my. I I question -- I'd hate them but I got a question -- the packers' rookie tackle let's say that."
" We don't hate the Packers. -- like highlights that I hate them. I do I -- I don't like you and probably I don't like their fans that much -- I don't really mind them so Doug Doan is like Aaron Rodgers assume that they'd like Aaron Rodgers a lot --"
" Okay so we had -- rookies because Clinton went out again and hopefully stayed out going to revel. God we got a rookie -- that came in in the fourth quarter they looked really good I'm I'm not a sure like too much about him but I think he looks really go to guys --"
" Well I think we need to see more of him you know I I don't know much about it neither he was not a highly sought after prospect to Jared Allen -- his head did. You know I guess I'm being careful here because I haven't seen that much on them I don't recall. It you know at what point he came in the viking game I Jared Allen need everything in front of women that game so I don't fault the kid for that. But I just don't know it's just too young and and I will tell you. That you know looking really good against the Cleveland Browns is not that great -- resume peace for the NFL self. I I think what I will do his between now and coming back. On Sunday I will -- and Gilmore formation for -- right now he's just another rookie who is in their out of need this it's not as if they said well here's the kid that we've been grooming. They're desperate you know I mean he's their third choice right now and so hopefully he'll hold -- Aaron Rodgers won't get killed. Here's Joe in -- on the score."
" overlook Florida here in every Tuesday and Wednesday thanks I had a question about you are right -- question Bears receiving corps coming into the year ever put all the love towards shot in and looks to me though Earl Bennett and the most reliable. Released a wider peers usually the only one who's not afraid to get just curious about. What you thought of his progress and do you think they should go to on a little more."
" You know I. I think Earl Bennett is the best quote receiver I think he's got he's the only one with the innate skills to play the position that you look for. He obviously was highly accomplished at Vanderbilt he holds an SEC record -- I think he's still also for receptions. It together yeah it -- and he's he's a half a step too slow for the NFL then that's the unfortunate reality now that doesn't mean he's that we're having. That means that on his very best daisies and number two. He's probably best suited as a number three and that's where you've seen him more where he's made a couple of really nice plays in key third down situations. But he's not a guy you're gonna build an offense around -- and I mentioned last night -- and the guys that had interest in conversation with James Lofton about Devin Hester. We also had interest in conversation about Johnny -- in -- again you know I'm talkin'. Defense or offensive line a deferred Hampton when I'm talking wide receivers and DBs I defer to -- walking. And -- just take was that he thinks that the kid his speed is exciting. He is surprised that the kid has adjusted to playing at this level as quickly as he has. But that the phrase he used was that he's a little light from the NN and what he meant by that is if nothing he fears contact. He's just he's not gonna stand up well with contact and -- he's gonna make some great catches he's not gonna make a mall and he may not make enough and so here's another kid. Who while he's exciting and a wonderful roster peace. His ultimate upside might be as a -- three also -- when he was picked where he was well yes and no -- you know he was a junior college player who only had two years at Abilene Christian which is a tear to school. He did not burn up the the competition playing at that level. There were a lot of reasons he went to the combine and torn up the Bears we're not the only team the new about this kid he had the fastest time. At the combine this year and then on his pro day he was equally good he caught everything thrown near him. And so there were a lot of teams that had interest in any -- he's a classic case. Of everybody else kept waiting one more pick. And the Bears finally took them off the board and what what you're seeing now. Has somebody take them late in the third or high in the fourth she wouldn't be complaining about it so easy in another nice roster peace. But the Bears still don't have to starting -- have won and they need to starting wide receiver."
" So we know what they look like unitarian retired and this -- actually brought this up several days ago about. The knocks mania of the nicest area and we've really need to understand the truth of what his upside is. But these receivers look like Brandon Marshall they look like Andre Johnson and Calvin Johnson and Anquan Boldin did she brilliant guys with -- long arms Clinton."
" Another look like Hakeem Nicks -- the Giants took late in the first round Ramsey's Barden who they took place in the third round."
" Or or even can take Mario Manningham."
" And put him looks so we'll put him next to Johnny Mac's and they are almost the same size the difference is that Manningham is noticeably thicker."
" And he does things without thinking about an easy and natural receiver enough you don't Manningham was his own worst enemy he deserved to go exactly where he did. Which by the way I think he went."
" Q -- within a couple picks. Of Earl Bennett if I'm not mistaken and end you know. Yet he he will be starting wide receiver in the league for years to come if he stays healthy. And so the answer you know not only do do most good scouts know what they look like but we know what they look like this isn't rocket science. And the Bears just haven't draft them with."
" Downtown it's Mike you're on the score with Mike."
" They don't play out called a couple of weeks ago to ask about Chris Williams playing the compared him to get. Preston trail by -- with all the other tackles and no we have a little bit larger sample size FOI. -- evaluate him because I'm really not optimistic Greg Paulus is much we are playing color this offensive linemen knock down. Chris Williams is definitely not looking the part of the franchise echoed his heart."
" We now he has shown nothing to suggest that he's a franchise -- you saw an interest in comparison. Sunday night because Sam baker who was playing on the left side for the Falcons who went later than he did in the draft. It is one of those kids in and and while baker did not have a great night. Sunday night against the Bears he has shown up better so far than Chris Williams has -- careless. Who went I believe. Four picks after crystal Lions. The Bears ate up pretty good in -- does not look that much very quickly was Branden Albert who went on the pick after him. I believe will be a pro bowler in any shown nothing so part of disappoint Jake Long with the Bears had no shot that is probably already the best left tackle in the league. -- and so on and so on so I. I think Chris Williams could be fine on the right side for 6810 years I think he will continue to get better I don't. Think it's fair to expect -- to be at his peak right now but he's been exceptionally mediocre and and and the frustration there. Is that that makes him one of the more productive guys on this offensive line through the first five weeks so the team has issues there. I don't think Williams was a it was a missed choice. You can't get the guys that went in front of him including you know Ryan Clady whose one of the -- left tackle that's important time. But he can't get the guy who went after him and Branden Albert so -- I I think maybe the Bears could have done -- little better with the -- Frank and Oak Park welcome to the score sat out."
" You know great -- I hit -- too quick question first followed up on the offensive line issue. The last three engineering of the line we got pretty good performance -- 05 I don't pick and then it."
" Carter fell apart you know and this current incarnate muted grief I didn't get two years out of -- starting five in the back up every year we're gonna need a major reworking before next season and the second question this whole thing no. Osgood kept going away may be forever next year could you talk with front office personnel."
" I'll admit anything or what their plans are as far as the makeup of their squad and if you -- You got just you know next year but he -- gonna go away 35 years down the road and can we see anything that -- PGA -- How can look in the team can come. Deal and would have Cutler extension signed up been here and the."
" Franklin had gone I -- out. Did you ask what this offensive lines look like next year they'll look good enough right now you know and so when you talked about getting two years -- five games out of me yet and self. Well Jerry mentioned today hope that I'm sure you heard of that guy got money. I got money I wanna pursue free agency tendencies are what exactly -- wants to pursue maybe just a good friend. What -- that I got money there's a lot to get to the the continuity of the offensive line and the effect of the uncapped year or years. Yeah well so let's go to part two in the effectively and can't creative teams don't initiate their rosters ultimately had no because that would be foolish because while we off. Feel that we know there will be no cap next year it hasn't happened yet the sort of -- something that is not yet reality would -- be very wise. I think the reality of it is is that he'll he'll have NFL turn into Major League Baseball you know you'll see. The big market big money teams in big money doesn't always go big market the NFL but certainly. The Redskins the Cowboys the within the Giants and Jets in their new stadium in the Patriots and Eagles. They're gonna have plenty of money to spend and they're gonna spend it other teams like like the the the bills and and the Bengals in the Chiefs the Packers. It's -- I feel horrible for packer fans -- because they're gonna get toasted in this deal because they're they're not gonna have the money. They're gonna have the option now spending below the floor on the cap and so they will spend less and so. The competitive balance gonna go away now where the Bears have met. Just because they're in the second biggest NFL markets they don't have. A great great revenue producing stadium deal away some of these other teams do so. They'll they'll have some money to spend and I believe that they'll spend at what they spend it wisely and remains to be seen. But it's gonna lead on very much in the middle of the pack they're not gonna have the competitive advantage of the other big big market teams have -- quick token we haven't really mentioned it. I think Jay Cutler signing is this an excellent move I don't know if you guys and I'm -- I was at the back -- really heard much just have to know much talked about it. But it's it's it's a great deal for the Bears it's great economy if you believe that this -- a potential Pro Bowl quarterback. That's not a bad deal for the kid because there is uncertainty over the next couple years. And he just put another twenty million guaranteed dollars in his pocket and -- if you look at his contract his rookie deal. Was six years about 489 -- about twenty guaranteed. Now he's added thirty and 22 -- so now it's an eight year deal. It's about us you know 7880 million dollar deal. -- about forty million guaranteed it's a little bit less the Bears got a discount over what Eli Manning just signed for what Philip Rivers just signed for but the Bears actually also got a discount over what Matt Stafford just signed for you don't know when you compare -- off --"
" Particularly we talked about we take a sweeping his terrific every as you probably would've -- the only -- I would say. Really it be great -- we take a break double get do you wanna talk you. What the only thing I would say that is great big Jay Cutler like every day of the week though which was what twenty more build a one debate. Except subsidies would -- Beasley is being K struggling gyrating -- Blackmon. See that's the only the other week that you go battle both so great to be Jay Cutler well now it remains to be senior I play on Monday to Friday or until -- it on -- you did you -- up until -- I just tried to warm -- Chelsea how -- the new and improved Jay Cutler continues to be a model citizen off the field. Which I also to his credit he has been so far you know I think he's he's being managed well as being coached well the end and so far so good on the returns on that deal more to come with Cubs can -- WSCR the score. That might put a question. You every way. They had to."
" Your phone calls is always doing a great job good today and Wednesday he's all yours. Well tomorrow we're going to be doing who you -- and will be closing it out we will be finish of the final segment of who your craft and which starts at 5 o'clock on Thursday is that their lined up for -- because today's. Wednesday pierce got in Woodstock and score."
" Hey guys Bob I'm lawyer if you clarify -- paid you know the announcers in the game but there was an -- that -- conduct Earl Bennett. And I don't -- said he didn't set a screen for better or blood pressure it's well."
" Then later on -- closer to the end of the game I don't know there was when they tried to get that -- been. How -- big wide receiver didn't that a good enough screen."
" Where's illegal screen it and others about people you know interpretation by the official noted there are some sort of law rule that defines what Beckett looked like."
" Well sounds to me like Chris comes what is making up rules as he got. I think I'm you know he you're not allowed to pick off a defensive back and self. What you'll see is if his two receivers running a crossing route. And they get too close together in one of the DBs covering them cannot get through the traffic. By definition of the rule that's a pitch in a flag should come out now what he's calling a screen. I'm really not sure if you if this was a basketball question because I figure -- what he meant the you know and so so apparently what he was saying. Is that the receivers got too close together and he's assuming that the guy who wasn't catching the ball was the one who made the mistake. But you really just guessing at that point which receiver ran his route to tonight. But that's where you're gonna see that flag come out and one of the biggest complaints of NFL. Coaches and offensive coordinators and quarterbacks is that they don't think that that players -- is flagged often enough but I've also been told if you are picked. Rather than necessarily fighting through it like you just can't let yourself get him. Blown up and make it make it is obvious is possible but you've just been picked illegally which makes perfect sense because at that point you're just helping the official. Understand that he's supposed to be going prison in the laundry in his pocket at that point."
" Hey -- on a car phone you're on the score okay around."
" I don't guys. I have a quick question about -- Injury why how long it be actually gonna be outlawed it unassailable moderate for the year yes and actuality you remember. Bring anybody in Al history and in this Carl Hairston last year."
" Well I know that a -- was scheduled for arthroscopic skirt surgery today would I -- IR he's on IRW others instead they feared that that was what I was gonna Shell and obviously it did. So he desired -- did you see that they give the roster spot to the night at someplace other obvious looking at somebody. I'm saying -- Tommie -- no he's not done I mean it's not like he is a complete waste of space it's it's not like he's the worst. -- defensive tackle in the league he's just not Tommie Harris he's just not disruptive force out there he's not the best three technique in the league anymore. What is not clear to me. Is how much of it is injury and physically unable to perform yeah and and how much of it may be you know mental attitude I got paid and I'm not accuse him of that understand that. In the more the Bears keep telling us he's healthy. The only option they leave us is to go to choice -- you know and I hope that's not the case but the bottom why not make complaints. In Barrington it's Doug -- on the score without."
" Hi guys felt I really respect your opinion which is why I wanted to call and nephew. What you think about the coaching staff subject -- case -- volunteer a lot of Bears fans get upset. Especially I think it has to do with love these post game demeanor doesn't have a fire and passion. But objectively and you know what counts on the field. What do you think about the coaching staff -- Smith I'm turner."
" Well I think fire and passion is dramatically overrated early on -- passions a good thing. But expecting your coach to be raving lunatic doesn't necessarily mean is going to be good football coach and and and then if you if you look at the annals of of Super Bowl coaches. You'll find it's pretty close to 5050 between the guys who are very calm and quiet the Tom Landry the Tony Dungy -- And the guys who go nuts you know which it would include obviously our favorite to coach and a many others you know certainly not just might. As far as this coaching staff. I think I think -- is is is fairly average to be honest with -- I think he's been. Remarkably lucky and and some of the things that have happened I think he's obviously a very good defensive coach I had my dog I knew it was a great defensive coordinator. Him when he announced this year that he was gonna put himself on line and and call the signals from the sidelines I really had my doubts. But I think for the most part he's done a really good job so far and I'd -- the B a B plus say -- still -- if he's not to put a final grid out of so I think he's a good football coach on the he's a great head coach because I don't know what he does as a head coach. That makes this team better one of his greatest weaknesses is that until this year he had one of the worst staffs of assistant coaches in the league year in and year out. And the few good ones that -- they had like Karl Dunbar defensive line coach and of course Ron Rivera. Either left or fired so what they did is they dramatically upgraded the staff this year Rod Marinelli highly respected Jon Hoke highly respected. I think Ron Turner is a good football coach only he's the best offense accordingly but I think he's a good football coach think -- stamped them a nice job with the offense of wanna do. -- camp yeah well let me take a step back he did a very good cast his first two years. This. Match because I."
" I don't know where we're at right now I don't mean that you like how much admitted it maybe is maybe thought his coach I. I think it -- put the one thing I will say is -- meal was a mistake. Because I heard that this was a great prospect a great idea great done between her who can play guard or tackle give you all kinds and options may even play senator. And and he just I see them falling down South Carolina and routes today yeah I got some bad news story here -- Olin Kreutz told -- statement. That he thinks -- Frankel -- going to be all pro not all but not Pro Bowl. All -- so he expects that he's leaving for the UFL -- them."
" Guys all of those elaborate Kosher or all of knows a lot more about offensive line play and I do I'm gone up what I saw on -- and a and what I've seen so far this year. Fallen as an all pro -- frank on the L ever is it's not going to be the same guy we've seen the first five weeks of the season Poland was at all for death. On the other side of an update we will do a little more relevant -- all -- This hours what do you by far seasons heating and air conditioned as we do every Wednesday we let you have better buddy homework issue and interesting conversation -- take. It -- in Geneva on the score hello John."
" I got a thought probably packer fan I'm a little bit concerned about recent statement you made a -- are -- a few minutes ago. About the good competing and a no salary cap era bad enough I'd always thought they were on the popular belief in revenue. The odds of people I think the management revenue generating stadium and okay I'm on national -- bit. What I want to find out is if you if you think you're making complete -- a blog about depth another not one of the higher. Level or. Is -- that. It may be able to compete for a few years but after appears that they would be able to pay me money javy didn't wish. For the likes of the Patriots fend try -- smoke and opinions."
" They certainly. Did a great job in the renovation of Lambeau Field and and I don't know to be honest with you the exact number of skyboxes and club sees that they have. And I'm not even sure quite frankly I that I an exemption they have club seats but I don't think there anywhere near in the stratosphere. That some of the big market seats are. I don't know what their deal is done I'm parking in and concessions but what I do know. Is there's no way that they can generate the additional marketing dollars the sponsorship dollars. Working either Milwaukee or Green Bay that the teams in bigger markets can self. I think that there run very effectively ending their bottom line may indeed be one of the best -- net revenue teams in the league. And I will double check this can give back to next week but no I don't believe that there one of the -- Top line revenue teams in the league. One more call for -- Memphis Tennessee it's Dakota on the score."
" Okay I know I don't I don't. I have a question -- Titans have one do you perceive them winning the focal barbarians."
" If it's anything --"
" I'm not positive."
" It -- Detroit lesser penalties so they would -- more talent you know Todd Helton and."
" I don't know what to think about what just such a -- at my. Pick it up preserved and -- Peyton Manning. I'll let some awards ceremony to -- about it."
" Well I don't think anything about that and I think Jeff has one of the class here guys in the league I'm sure he had a reason for doing it and then yeah. Said he wanted to feel like a winner so we pulled this news is sure to tie off and there was -- you don't see Peyton Manning Jersey and they said just once I'd like to feel like a winner -- heart. Harmless so definitely I didn't always. I think he's frustrated you know as far as when they could win coming out of the -- they -- Jacksonville at home. They can win answered after they can win by the and they did their next 56 games up until they go to India December 6. The next five games are all winnable formed this is not that different a football team -- the one that was thirteen and three in the number one seed we have -- This is about confidence is is about momentum this is a team that that it should've won at least two of their first three and then who knows what happens in the next three self. To compare him to Detroit is now I -- we -- that now I do think the years -- right off I don't think they're gonna win more than three or four games the rest of the way because of what's happened with confidence and momentum. But we look at the talent the roster they're capable bounced right back can be in a playoff contender next year of quarterbacking too bright line today. The issue although I saw some -- numbers today you know -- actually averaging about sixty yards a game more on offense now than they did last year. Is Kerry Collins has thrown a couple more picks than while he's taken heat he's not the problem problem is that pass defense. With three probe while -- hurt you know but they've got three -- was -- second at the pass defense has just been down awful and they've made some dumb mistakes that game that I did there. Against the Colts a couple weeks ago that too stupid roughing the passer penalties and and guys blowing their assignments and in cover two. And then again they're they're a team has lost its focus but there's still plenty of talent there to come all right help."
" We'll let you -- appreciated as always and let me say this is a great day for all people come are huge because not only. You know to do the Bears have Cutler for awhile longer you sir mr. cub every holiday yelled. On the payroll these days really -- but I'm sure everybody figure out so quickly in the correct pronunciation of his name and the gets butchered for months before it's completely. Well you pretty well -- I don't think that's too hard now it's now -- I if I can do it believe -- does not care -- you know it's -- ahead of events and -- that -- sincerely -- jump below for those of us who -- all Spanish it's not that are good but why -- guys I saw that it might still say that happened to be good -- I think you know the concept to the subject anyway I I think. Let me all right lord it's very exciting have you picked the Bears have him angles you know I I really can't make up my mind now. And I -- account Banja but I. I can get I can make arguments for the Bears it's scary if you know what I just said about the Titans and confidence and momentum. Where is where is this team mentally now coming out of Sunday night now they've lost Tino he's Somalis. Which way to the offensive line golf. Did to the Bengals win one for Cedric you know which they don't wanna we'll tell you that so -- the stuff going on both ways here camera and kind of flipping a coin right now I really have minimal grief it's the closest I think it's a closed -- eyes of the week. Don't have anybody -- know much like I said the Falcons were clearly the better team and if I gotta pick a roster and take in there's. The Bears are -- the better team I would rather have the bears' 53 -- the Bengals 53. But -- have slam dunk it's close enough that I think the intangibles -- what's gonna sort this one out I have facts directly help."
