" One draft. Left Super Bowl champions pool of free. Aikman and Mully and Hanley Sunday mornings."
" All yes -- let's get right up the odds are hot lot of welcoming Troy Aikman. Hi how are you buddy. I don't. Well -- you're at the big game I mean you're a game that I wish to doubted been on Sunday night unfortunately. -- being out at the bear game itself but he get a chance to see that game other than watching. -- pilots obviously afterward and getting a chance to see some of the yeah. Some of the places that was going on but for the most part I missed it and I really regret it because it was just tell us about the atmosphere what was it like you to be sitting there and hearing. The response of Brett Favre."
" Well it was in the hole atmosphere of the game -- not so it is it is obviously haven't had a really great feeling a lot of anticipation as far as. You know what the reaction of the crowd was going to be in. You know wasn't it was a situation where those fans were -- on the fence -- the people felt -- passionate one way or the other and you know there was mostly mostly boos but I think that was just simply because he was the opponent for that day I think deep down these fans really do have great respect and admiration for what he had done. You know over sixteen years and you know typical Brett Favre fashion he came mountain and play great played great both games -- had against the Packers and you know newspapers and whether it -- when that game."
" 29 point eight million people tuned in to fox broadcaster broadcaster of that game second most since -- start broadcasting. Football 1990 force I was anticipating it. It lived up to a two and yeah a lot of questions about the Vikings when they got out of the dome over the gonna respond and let last week the week prior there in Pittsburgh and opportunity before that pick. To maybe go ahead with the the score there and then of course school back to Green Bay. They would rather convincingly even though Green -- made a run and so I think in that we're at that as long as he stays healthy Favre is the the Vikings are very much for real here."
" Well I I agree a -- there there awfully good and and you know people would look at their their yardage both offensively and defensively and and I don't know if we've talked about on the show or not but. You I devised a rating system a few years back you know Lovie Smith -- it is very familiar with that and then based on that which I think. Take into consideration a lot of things that are inherent. To win football games the Vikings are actually. One of the best teams on both sides of the ball the very opportunistic. They've been good for number of years as we know defensively they've been able to run the football. This year that got a different element. With Favre and whether was -- other quarterback in the fact that they have somebody now that can win games. By thrown at. Is is good for them I mean you look a couple of weeks ago or even the first time that the Packers and Vikings played each other and win the Packers really shut down Adrian Peterson. That's a game a year ago they're not able to win and so they can win a lot of different ways of life a lot like what we witnessed last night with a New Orleans Saints and and I think those two teams to the best teams in the NFC right now."
" Both dome teams you know the ball to question whether probably gonna respond with a -- of the dome while. Kissed a swat maybe they don't -- you look at -- in particular. I think they got Carolina coming in next -- not a big win. But it's in the dome the Carolina's 34 team -- they go to Saint Louis one win team they go to Tampa win list team I mean you start at these games up Troy. That team is going to be awful hard to beat."
" Well they are and and they're going to be really tough to beat if fair if they get home field advantage throughout the playoffs and then that and that's true for for most teams but especially them very familiar. You know with the superdome -- them -- what it means to play there how difficult it is on opponents and gonna get awfully loud they have a definite home field advantage in the plan there and and -- Ya know look at their schedules. Most people would say you don't. Gosh there's nobody really on this schedule or just a couple of teams that really have a chance to beat them but. I don't know that that's necessarily the case -- you guys would follow in the NFL for a long time I believe that -- are the best team in the NFC but I believe that they'll lose a couple of games before this. Before the season is over. And it's going to be a challenge -- big challenge for them to to win enough games to have home field advantage. Because when you've got Minnesota being able to do something to third on -- and I also thank. That that the entity he is gonna is gonna make a run as well as far as who's gonna be number one seed in the number number two seed I don't think it's -- foregone conclusion by any means it's going to be the Saints have the self and then of the Vikings in the north."
" Most vent out -- rating system for number years or try and maybe can in edged it the rest of us what was impetus of that what goes into it and and basically out of Bears fare right now although I'm -- nervous about the answer the last one."
" Well the way that the way that we come about it is I always felt that when I was plan -- For instance the 49ers were real juggernaut offensively during that time and and they were always gonna ranked higher than than we -- because they threw the ball more in fact teams that threw the ball more in general we're gonna always rank higher offensively than than other teams that didn't throw as much and I -- felt that. Yeah there was more to -- it was say hey this was the number one offense in the NFL. Just because they had more yards and I thought points were important I thought scored in the red zone facts. Turnovers. Third down conversions all of those things should be incorporated but much like the quarterback rating here and so. Several years ago I got was some some statisticians and we came up with a formula and in it's something that. You when you go back and you look at it as to who the teams are that are -- in very high offensively and defensively. They're the teams that are winning the most games and and one of those examples that I give them back in 2000 the Baltimore Ravens defensively rule. Regarded by many to maybe be the best defense in the history of the game. And yet that year they want him in the number one defense in the NFL they were the number two defense based on yardage. Now based on my ranking they are by far the best defensive team in the league which then stands to read himself. You know looking at the look at the Bears. Right now as to where there when you take a quick look."
" Right around the red zone's not gonna do well our new. Sacks are good either way."
" Taiwanese they're twentieth in the NFL in any yardage based on their rankings their 22. Offensively. Based on mine and then defensively. The misses were there and -- beat defensively their eleventh in the NFL based on yardage and then by my rankings their -- first in the hall itself normally in years past the reason Lovie Smith is like my my my ratings so much is because that the Bears have rated higher in my ratings than what they have in the NFL he's probably not -- out in the -- too much this --"
" This sharing this -- success story broke on -- and how familiar are -- He always says they did that they you know don't look at the yards -- doesn't matter it's about you know points and it's about the other things that you incorporate these. A big fan of -- of your system and that's very interesting to see but I think it's I think it's not accurate like from from what we've seen with the eyeball test now. I get to questions for you regarding the Bears won would be. Jay -- nearly killed last week the it was amazing about it he took. And it wasn't just the sex although the sex when he opted sacked four times hit eleven times legitimately. Knocked down and hit pretty hard. From now -- can't take that sort of thing. It would appear Troy the teams and here we are halfway through the season just about they've only played seven games but. Now the run tape now teams are attacking them in a different -- now teams have decided he got to get to the quarterback he's hold the ball. Do you counterattack -- account that I thought the Cincinnati game maybe it was situation all the way they were attacked now we -- Cleveland -- here just go flat out after the quarterback."
" Yeah I think we're seeing that really around the league right now and and and that's kind of ebbed and -- I think over the last several years or at least the last forty years when I came -- stout defense -- Really wanna start playing and what -- what I have seen for the most part. Is that defense -- recognizing that -- stayed rush three or four guys and give quarterbacks time to throw the football that it doesn't matter how many people you drop back down coverage or how good your coverage might be. Eventually these guys are gonna go find -- and that that can get open which you know Brett Favre would certainly senate. With Drew Brees here this year if not before and so. -- now the defense is coming after the quarterback that happened in in Chicago and and you say how -- we you know had a week. If you know counter that -- wanted you gotta you gotta start makes places and you gotta be glued to make these defense just say when they do bring. When they do bring pressure and he'll the other part of it is is maintained some type of balance and I think that's where that's -- Chicago. Has struggled a little bit you know I mean this is this is an offensive team that has had a I had a and had a hard time run the football first throat for several years now and not and yet we kind of think of the Chicago Bears as as this dominant running football team and that that is not the case and here right now Cutler. They changed their identity a little bit and rightfully so on the you don't bring in a guy like Jay Cutler and make their country. And -- gonna put the ball in his hands but the day they've got -- start being able to make some defense as I wanna come after -- and that's what did not but it doesn't."
" He's trying to make many joins us here -- and -- shall each and every week -- and joy and look forward to the visit. -- and on the broadcasts on Sunday mentioned one of the penalties roughing -- penalties. That they they got to Rogers and is that what we're going too far protected the quarterback and in my world simply every time that Tom Brady gets the sniffles revenue rule. Yet NIC Wimbley -- had a helmet first and go underneath the children of color he -- is -- An -- just looked awful he he was guys bell -- certainly. What's a happy medium there and from former quarterback when you're saying all of -- too -- it's -- football. I don't league's trying to protect it's stars and it's big asset but how do you do that exactly."
" Well and they him as huge as stated I think one of the big problems right now and I think it's a problem that the coaches haven't is that there's so much inconsistency from from one week to the next -- from one game to the next step in it's hard then. To really be able to tell these defense to players exactly how they're exposed come after the quarterback -- from. From the time the game was that was started. The the nature of defense of football was to get after the quarterback and an element of that. Has been taken away and -- I'm concerned about I don't think it's gonna get better I mean especially when you've got -- you know congress look him in the head injuries and -- the long term effects are and with that. There's certainly some pressure on the NFL to try to come up with more ways to protect the players but yet that's that's an element of the game and that it has made this game as popular. As what it has spent so you know I'm not -- and I -- a guy who played the position took a lot of hits. I think that coming in with the crown of the helmet I'm all for that. But when you've got a guy who's just trying to knock passed down in the hand comes across -- the face mask -- the quarterback's helmet. I don't understand why that didn't should be a fifteen yard penalty in the team keeps the ball I think we've. I think we've gone too far now what the league will tell me in New York. Is that you cannot officiate intent and I disagree with that I you know you've got to refereed. That is doing nothing but watching the quarterback from the time the ball is snapped and he drops back. You can officiate intent and you know what the defense players trying to do. If the defense to players on the ground and he gets knocked down and he's trying to you know get the quarterback. -- in the pocket right you know within reason I think you can see as to whether or not that guys actually trying to take his knees and -- what it is. I'm concerned I'm concerned about where this game's going to be. 1015 years from now in light of some of the things that are are now coming to light. With long term effects from the head injuries are the reports that we've now learned."
" You know I trouble will let you coached on the way out a lot of our people here in Chicago very upset with what's happening with Bears. Offense and and what we've seen -- happen here thus far has been a team that supposedly was building towards something and it looks like it's going the other way like people are. Looking at them on tape and figured out a way to attack them instead of the alternative. I'm Q quarterback get a coach fired can a quarterback I get everybody."
" I expect that. Boy that's a good question. I imagine -- You know at the end of the day. -- win lawyer said a moment ago when you. You make that kind of trade for Jay Cutler there's there's a lot that there is expected there's a lot of people -- that have their feet over the fire and and you know with a quarterback like that become you know the expectations are high enough that they become higher and then when you don't meet those then unfortunately. You know there's there's changes that are going to be made I'm actually do on the Chicago game this weekend look at a very much support come to Chicago of the city and you're government Cardinals for the first time this year as well as as well the Bears All-Star dig into the film. Actually this afternoon -- cute and I am looking forward to seeing and kind of what's been going on with them offensively get a little closer look at it."
" Excellent will look forward to getting a chance to talk to next week in and pick in your brain -- that thanks so much strike I don't care what. That's Troy Aikman does it does as good as anyone that -- ratings all that fascinating stuff really interesting because. I mean -- to see what he has to say after."
